Europa Park in Inca

The Inca Town Council has launched the project for the perimeter enclosure of Parc Europa. The works, carried out by PAVIMENTOS ESPECIALES MALLORCA S.L., involved an investment of 94,000.63 euros (VAT included).

Thus, 2-metre high prefabricated panels of electro-welded metal mesh are currently being installed to close off the public enclosure so that it can be closed off during the afternoon. The 7 entrances to the park will be maintained and double-leaf gates will be installed.

On the other hand, the side path of the park that connects Tirant el Blanc Street and Selleters Street will be left outside the closed area to facilitate traffic between the two races.

The Europa Park, located in the Crist Rei neighbourhood, has a surface area of more than 21,000 m2 made up of different pedestrian paths surrounded by vegetation and a children’s area. Over the last few years, important improvements have been made: street lighting, the children’s playground has been enlarged, the paving in some areas has been renewed, a multi-sports court has been built and new spaces have been created for sports practice, among others.

The renovation and improvement of the urban park has meant a considerable increase in users and pedestrians; and at the same time an increase in vandalism and nuisance in the neighbourhood, especially at night.

“In this way we are responding to the demands of the neighbourhood, which had requested the closure of the Europa Park to limit access during the evening and thus guarantee the rest and harmony of the neighbourhood”, explains the mayor of Inca, Virgili Moreno.

Finally, it should be noted that this action has been launched within the framework of the first participatory budget campaign of the Inca City Council. The Europa Park closure project was one of the most voted for by the citizens.
