The cycle of educational concerts of the “Viu la cultura” programme of the Directorate General of Culture will come to an end this Wednesday, the 24th of April, with the performance of “Historia del Rock” (History of Rock). This academic year 2023-2024 three didactic shows/concerts have been scheduled, in which a total of 4219 students from different schools on Mallorca, Menorca, Eivissa and Formentera have taken part.
After the experience of the students of Mallorca on Wednesday the 16th of April, tomorrow it will be the turn of Menorca, with two performances at the Teatro del Born in Ciutadella with the participation of more than 400 students. This performance will bring to an end the series of educational concerts scheduled every school year through the “Viu la cultura” (Live Culture) programme.
The show “History of Rock” is directed by the singer Cris Juanico, who will provide the vocals and will be accompanied by four other pop-rock musicians (guitars, keyboard, drums and bass). This is a didactic concert that will show the history of rock through the live performance of fragments of songs linked together and projections of the period. The historical, social and cultural circumstances surrounding these songs, the authors and the style they belong to will also be presented. At the same time, during the performance of the songs, which will be divided into different thematic blocks according to the period, information about the authors, lyrics and styles will be projected on a screen.
A show that meets all the requirements of an educational concert, achieving a balance between the different parts: music, explanations of the contents and the participation of the pupils.
On Tuesday 16th April the concert was held in Mallorca and now it is the turn of the schools in Menorca, on 24th April 2024 at the Teatre des Born in Ciutadella. There will be two shifts at 10.00 am and 11.30 am and more than 400 students will take part. The Director General of Culture, Ricarda Vicens, is expected to attend the last session.
