942,000 euros of aid from the Rural Development Programme and more than 400,000 euros of aid to alleviate the effects of the Juliette storm on olive and carob trees have been paid out.

In recent days, Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment, through the Balearic Islands Agricultural and Fisheries Guarantee Fund (FOGAIBA), has paid over 1.5 million euros in aid to continue providing liquidity to the primary sector of the Balearic Islands. In this regard, Minister Joan Simonet recalled that ‘one of the main priorities of the current legislature was to resolve the calls for aid as soon as possible because we want to provide the sector with all available resources’.

In detail, of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) aid, a total of 27 cases have been resolved for a value of 942,873.31 euros. Specifically, the lines that have been subsidised are those aimed at investments in agricultural holdings (INEA); those aimed at subsidising pilot projects (COPPI); those aimed at short marketing chains (COCCI); the lines aimed at supporting information and promotion activities in the internal market (PIPQU) and those aimed at LEADER group strategies (EDLP), among others. In this regard, it should be remembered that this RDP aid is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Government.

FOGAIBA has also made a new payment of aid to alleviate the effects of the Juliette storm on olive and carob trees: 18 applications worth 437,255.71 euros have been resolved. ‘I want to emphasise that thanks to the hard work being done by the whole team of the Conselleria, we are speeding up the deadlines for the resolution of the calls for applications,’ said councillor Simonet.

Other files that have been paid in recent days correspond to pending payments of aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the call for FEMP aid for the temporary halt of 2022. In addition, the Balearic Islands Agricultural and Fisheries Guarantee Fund has also announced the closure of the 2022 Friesian breed promotion (FOF) and 2023 Control and Eradication of Q Fever (CEQ) calls, as all the files have been resolved and paid.
