Activities for the elderly at the sociocultural centres
Within the framework of these activities, the Inca and Manacor centres today hosted informative sessions on healthy eating given by the Official College of Dieticians-Nutritionists of the Balearic Islands, to raise awareness of the importance of nutrition for healthy ageing and provide information on nutrition in the case of frequent chronic illnesses. The island’s Director of Sociocultural Promotion, Hermosinda Mariño, explained that, with this type of workshop, ‘we can reach the elderly and resolve all their doubts in a didactic way so that they can apply it in their homes’.
The councillor for the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, said that the success of these activities ‘reaffirms the desire of the elderly to actively participate and live different experiences’. For this reason, ‘after the great success of the initiatives carried out in the socio-cultural centres, the island institution has increased its commitment to activities that allow them to develop’.
