The Balearic Agency for Digitalisation, Cybersecurity and Telecommunications (IB Digital), a public company under the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Innovation, has installed a new technological sensor communication station in Campos, thanks to an agreement between IB Digital and the municipality’s Town Council.

IB Digital installs a technological station in Campos to improve water management

This project will multiply the options for obtaining and transmitting data in real time, improve water management, study the capacity of beaches and car parks and sensor the natural areas of the municipality. The ability to monitor and manage resources such as water is essential for sustainable and efficient management of the municipality.

IB Digital has promoted this project as part of its commitment to digitising the environment and obtaining real-time data to improve public services. The new communications station, which belongs to the IoTIB network, uses LoRaWAN technology, which offers multiple advantages for sensor communication. These benefits include a long coverage range, low device power consumption and the ability to penetrate physical obstacles, making it ideal for applications in urban and rural areas. In addition, LoRaWAN enables the connection of a large number of devices, facilitating massive real-time data monitoring.

This project has been co-financed with European ERDF funds and demonstrates IB Digital’s commitment to the continuous improvement of communications infrastructures. In total, the deployment of the TetraIB and IoTIB network represents an investment of more than 13 million euros. The use of LoRaWAN represents a significant step towards digitisation and improvement of public services and makes Campos a municipality with greater connectivity.
