The Consell de Mallorca inaugurates a children’s playground and a multisports court in Lluc

The Minister of the Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, accompanied by the island’s Director of Sports, Toni Prats, and the Mayor of Escorca, Antoni Solivellas, have visited the new sports facilities, which have been financed by the island institution with a contribution of almost 37,000 euros. This new playground is part of the Consell’s subsidy for the installation of outdoor sports modules of 7 typologies, which is being developed in 2024, and which contemplates the installation of 152 sports spaces in the towns for a total amount of 5.2 million euros.

The play area is located on a 200-square-metre continuous safety pavement and has a boundary fence. It includes different elements such as a seesaw, a hut, a double swing, one of which is adapted and inclusive, and a multi-games area with walkways, slides, ramps and games.

The councillor, Pedro Bestard, explained that this new park ‘meets the criteria of sustainability and inclusion necessary for the development of children, and will allow many to access and enjoy themselves in this area of active family tourism’.

The Consell de Mallorca, through its Sports Department, maintains a close relationship of collaboration with the Lluc Sanctuary, given that this is where the participants in various adventure sports trips organised during the winter stay. It also organises sports activities for the elderly, who visit the area during the season, to carry out the days known as ‘Intermou-te’.
