Atlàntida Mallorca Talents Lab closes with the largest prize fund in its history

After three intense days of training, conferences and networking activities, the jury, made up of Juan Carlos Tous (FILMIN), Enrique Costa (Elastica Films), Alberto Tognazzi (DELUXE), Jose Manuel Zamora (Abycine) and Silvia Iturbe and Annabelle Aramburu (MAFIZ), awarded the following prizes:

First Prize: PARTS GAEL, debut film by actor Àlex Monner, produced by Aina Clotet and Marta Baldó of Funicular Films. This project has been awarded €40,000 for the acquisition of rights by Filmin and Elastica, who will be in charge of its theatrical distribution, in addition to the creation of the DCP and delivery of 70 copies in Spain by Deluxe.

‘It has been an honour to be selected in the Atlantida Lab, surrounded by projects that we have fallen in love with. The level was very high and we didn’t expect to receive such an important award. Having Elástica and Filmin is a dream. We are happy and it is a brutal push, at the same time that it also activates us to work with all our head and heart to try to make a good film’, say Monner and Clotet.

Second Prize: A VECES SILENCIO, by Álvaro Robles, produced by Néstor López of Filmakers Monkeys. This project will receive €15,000 for the acquisition of rights by Filmin, as well as the creation of DCP and delivery of 70 copies in Spain by Deluxe.
Abycine Lanza Award: NO SOY UNIVERSAL, by Celia de Molina, produced by Cecilia Rivas of Solita Films. This project will participate in the next edition of Abycine Lanza, giving it an additional platform for its development and visibility.

Málaga Talent Award: MONO, by Eiande Setoain, produced by Marc Guanyabens of Fractal. This project will have the opportunity to participate in the next edition of Málaga Talent, a unique opportunity to deepen its training both in the field of production and narrative.
Since its creation in 2018, the AMTL has witnessed the evolution and success of numerous projects that have won recognition at international festivals. This year’s edition

This year’s edition was no exception, standing out for the high quality of the projects presented and the commitment of the participants.
‘It is, without a doubt, the edition with the highest level we have ever had,’ says Virginia Galán, coordinator of the laboratory. ‘This year there has been an abysmal leap in the professionalisation of the projects thanks to the mentoring they have received, something we have all noticed in the pitch session. But, above all, the special thing about this edition has been the community that has been created among all the participants and experts. The size of AMTL allows a great proximity between all of them, and that is precisely the strong point of this laboratory: the proximity to someone like Eva Diederix or María Zamora’.

In this edition, the AMTL has introduced important new features, highlighting a change of focus towards production, marketing and distribution consultancy, leaving behind its emphasis on script analysis. In addition, they have implemented a new format based on personalised mentoring, which has allowed the ten selected projects to receive more in-depth and specific support from big names in the national industry: producers Sandra Tapia (Arcadia Motion Pictures), Ariadna Dot (Lastor Media), Paz Lázaro (Amore Cine), Manuel Monzón (A Contracorriente) and sales manager Ana Vicente (Dogwoof). The activities included case studies, talks on distribution and one-to-one meetings with industry experts, ensuring comprehensive and personalised training.

The Atlàntida Mallorca Talents Lab is a FILMIN project funded by Europa Creativa Desk – MEDIA Catalunya and the MEDIA Spain Office, as well as the collaboration of Elastica Films, DELUXE, Abycine and MAFIZ, without whom this event would not have been possible.
