Educació introduces new features in the instructions regulating the canteen service for the next academic year 24-25
About the timetable of the canteen service, it is established that it must be offered between 12:00 and 15:30, thus including lunchtime for pupils in the first cycle of infant education (0-3 years). Last school year’s instructions established the timetable between 12.30 and 15.30 hours.
About the preparation of menus, it has also been introduced in the basic guidelines that the companies or entities that manage the school canteen service in non-university public schools must take into account the snack for the first cycle of infant education.
Concerning the amount of the bonuses received by teachers who, voluntarily, are in charge of the canteen service, this has increased from €9.32 per day to €25 per day (in the case of canteens with between 51 and 99 diners) and from €10.48 per day to €27 per day in the case of canteens with more than 100 diners.
In addition, for the academic year 2024-2025, the amount of the bonus for staff with direct care and attention functions for pupils in the school canteen service is €22 per day. In the instructions for the academic year 2023-2024 this amount was set at €7.41 per day. Teachers will receive these payments at the end of each term and not in a single payment as has been the case until now.
It is worth remembering that the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities, from the Autonomous Secretariat of Educational Development, is working to cap the price of school canteen meals for the 2024-2025 academic year.
