The Serra de Tramuntana Consortium aims to restore the hydraulic network and clean up the Serra de Tramuntana forests

On the one hand, funding has been requested for the restoration and improvement of the hydraulic systems of Banyalbufar and Estellencs, a project involving an investment of 4,356,000 euros over four years. These two municipalities represent one of the greatest exponents of the culture of water and land use, with a terraced irrigation system of Islamic origin, which is articulated by numerous springs and complex networks of 15 and 9 kilometres, respectively. In recent years, with the abandonment of the land, this entire system has deteriorated and recovering it would mean both the enhancement of an essential heritage element and a substantial improvement for the farmers in the area.
