The Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, received the special prize for her work as an anaesthetist, for her involvement with the medical associations and her current work at the head of the Regional Ministry of Health, awarded by the Spanish Medical Association (OMC) at a ceremony held at the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid.

The Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, receives the special lifetime achievement award from the Spanish Medical Association

García Romero has been honoured for her involvement with doctors and patients throughout her career. Her work as a specialist in anaesthesiology, her work as head of the College of Doctors of the Balearic Islands (COMIB) and the vice-presidency of the Spanish Medical Association, and now in the political sphere as head of the Regional Ministry, completed a professional career linked to the care and defence of patients and health professionals.

At the awards ceremony for this sixth edition of the Doctors and Patients Awards, which recognises the best initiatives of professionals, institutions and associations in the field of health and the social and healthcare sector, the Regional Minister was accompanied by the Regional Minister for Enterprise, Employment and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, the Director General of Public Health, Elena Esteban, and the Director General of Health Research, Training and Accreditation, Vicenç Joan.
