The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has issued a communiqué on the anniversary of the Hamas attacks in which it recalls that the government is committed to continue working for peace in the Middle East.

The Government of Spain recalls and reiterates its strongest condemnation of the atrocious Hamas terrorist attacks of 7 October 2023 and conveys its solidarity to the families and relatives of the victims, remembering especially Maya Villalobo and Iván Illaramendi, the two Spanish citizens killed during the terrorist attacks.

Government reiterates its condemnation of the 7 October attacks against Israel on the anniversary of the attack

One year on, the Government expresses its solidarity with the families of the hostages who are still being held hostage and demands their immediate release. A ceasefire, the release of the hostages, humanitarian access to civilians and an end to the violence are necessary.

The Government reiterates its determination to combat anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred and discrimination.

The Government pledges to continue to work for peace in the Middle East and to advance the implementation of the two-state solution living side by side in peace and security, the best guarantee of stability for all in the region.
