The works, which will be carried out at night from Sunday until Wednesday, include signposting, milling of the pavements, removal of barriers from the road surface reinforcement project and rearrangement of the junction with the motorway.
The Department of Infrastructures of the Consell de Mallorca will carry out preparatory work for the start of asphalting work on the Cintura road and the reorganisation of the junction with the airport motorway. These actions are included in the Palma Access Plan and have a budget of 16 million euros. In order to carry out these works it is necessary to carry out preparation work, and for this purpose overnight road closures have been scheduled.

New road closures on the ring road and the airport motorway
These cuts will be carried out on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 21:00 to 6:00 hours. Alternative routes will be established during the works. Specifically, the works will be signposted, the pavements will be milled, barriers will be removed and branches will be prepared. On the Via Cintura, work will be carried out from the height of Ikea and for some three kilometres in the direction of Andratx, which will also affect the junction with the Inca motorway. In the airport direction it will be open to traffic.
The works to reinforce the road surface of the ring road and the fourth lane on the airport motorway, announced by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, in September, have a budget of 16 million euros. They consist of renovating the entire asphalt of Mallorca’s busiest artery along some 8 kilometres. The works, with the new high quality, non-slip road surface, also include branch roads and will reach as far as the Génova tunnel. It should be remembered that it has been more than 20 years since this type of improvement has been made on the beltway. This will improve safety and traffic flow.
This action will also modify the subway at the Can Blau roundabout, which currently has only two lanes from the airport motorway in the direction of Andratx, and will now have three. The aim is to eliminate the traffic funnel that forms at rush hour. A fourth lane is also being built on the airport motorway in the direction of Palma. It will run from the Molinar roundabout to the ring road, and access to the ring road on the same motorway and the Manacor road will be improved.
