The Government announces grants worth 900,000 euros to promote sports clubs from the Balearic Islands in national competitions

The main objective of this aid is to support Balearic sports clubs with individual and collective sports teams that compete at the national level, providing them with the necessary resources for their participation in state-level competitions. This aid includes subsidies to cover staffing costs, registration fees, rental of sports facilities, as well as the first sports equipment of the teams.

The call is open to both individual and collective sports. Among the individual sports eligible for aid are athletics, badminton, swimming, and archery, among others. Collective sports include basketball, football, handball, and water polo, among other disciplines.

Eligible national competitions must meet the following requirements:

  • They must be included in the official calendars of the respective national federations.
  • They must be regular leagues, play-offs or top-category cups, in the case of collective sports.
  • Take place between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2025.
  • Involve clashes with teams from other autonomous communities in Spain.
  • Require prior qualification for participation.

The call covers different types of expenses to help clubs in the competition, including:

  • Registration fee in national federations or professional leagues.
  • Acquisition of the first sports equipment.
  • Facility rentals for training and official matches.
  • Remuneration of contracted athletes.

Expenses such as insurance, severance pay, self-invoices, and rentals of facilities between sports entities registered in the same sports registry, among others, cannot be subsidised.
All sports clubs regulated by the Sports Law of the Balearic Islands, which are registered in the Register of Sports Entities of the Balearic Islands and which can prove their participation in national category federative competitions, may apply for aid. Clubs that operate as public limited sports companies (SAD) are excluded from this call for applications.
Interested clubs may submit their applications within the deadlines established in the official call for applications, and must comply with the legal requirements for the justification of subsidies in accordance with the regulations established in the General Law on Subsidies and other applicable provisions.
