From 8 to 15 November, everyone is invited to create and edit articles in the Viquipèdia in Catalan.

On the 12th two workshops will be held in Alcúdia to learn how to edit in Viquipèdia

During the week of 8 to 15 November, the XI Viquillengua will take place, which this year is dedicated to the radio in Catalan on the occasion of its centenary. This event, in which the Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) participates, is organised by the Department of Linguistic Policy of the Generalitat of Catalonia and Amical Wikimedia, with the collaboration of the Government of Andorra, the Public Office of the Catalan Language (Northern Catalonia) and the Government Delegation of the Catalan Government in Italy.

The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) participates in the XI Viquillengua

The Viquillengua is an activity organised annually since 2013, which all Catalan-speaking territories joined in 2020. During the days that this viquimarató lasts, volunteers expand with reliable references to Viquipèdia articles in Catalan related to the proposed topic. At the same time, this event serves as an introduction to the Viquipèdia edition for those participants who are not yet accustomed to its operation.

On the occasion of the centenary of radio in Catalan, this year’s edition of Viquillengua invites everyone to edit Viquipèdia’s entries on radio in Catalan. Registration is free and participation consists of expanding the contents proposed in a list of entries to create, expand or revise. At the same time, the creation of new articles and the translation of existing content into other languages are also suggested.
In addition to online participation, it is possible to collaborate through various face-to-face activities. Specifically in Alcúdia, there will be two editing workshops in the Viquipèdia, given by the viquipedista Pau Cabot: one for the students of the IES Alcúdia and another one open to the general public. Those interested in attending the latter, which will take place at 5 p.m. at the Can Torró Library, can do so on the website www.moulallengua.cat.
There will also be activities in Tarragona (8 November, 5 p.m., at the CRAI of the Campus Catalunya of the URV), Reus (8 November, from 5 to 9 p.m., at LANOVA Ràdio de Reus), Sabadell (9 November, 4 p.m., at Casa Guasch), Andorra (14 November, from 10 to 5 p.m., at the Biblioteca Nacional), Perpignan (13 November, 2 p.m., at the Institut Franco-Catalàn Transfrontalier (IFCT).
