With a budget of 49,567 euros and a 3 to 4-week completion period, the project will modernise the moorings and tidy up the area.

PortsIB will begin work this week on the installation of a new mooring train in the Es Rivetó area of Portocolom. The project aims to tidy up and modernise the moorings for 52 boats, eliminating the improvised anchoring elements that have accumulated over the years (tyres filled with concrete, sand blocks, among others) and replacing them with a safe, sustainable system adapted to the needs of the area.

The planned actions consist of the complete removal of the old materials and the cleaning of the area. Next, concrete blocks measuring 1.7 x 1.7 x 0.4 m will be installed, which will be completely buried due to the shallow depth of the area. These blocks will be connected by a 28 mm galvanised steel mother chain and new mooring branches for the boats will be installed.

The cost of the works will be 49,567 euros (VAT excluded) and they are expected to be finished in approximately 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the weather.

Since last week, PortsIB has begun the provisional relocation of the affected vessels. So far, 25 boats have been relocated to pontoons A, B and C, which are currently available as they are free of vessels in transit. In the next few days, the remaining 27 boats will be moved to these same pontoons and pontoon D, located in the Pereió area.

With this intervention, the Department of the Sea and Water Cycle of the Government of the Balearic Islands reaffirms its commitment to an orderly and sustainable management of anchoring in the port facilities of Portocolom, ensuring the preservation of the environment in the area of Es Rivetó.
