The Consell de Mallorca has launched new proposals for all audiences, which will be available until March.
Four new exhibitions are now available at La Misericòrdia. This Friday, the Consell de Mallorca simultaneously unveiled the new proposals for all audiences that can be seen at the cultural centre until the 8th of March.
The vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, stressed that the main objective of this new exhibition season at the Misericòrdia is to ‘promote culture and bring it closer to all citizens, with diverse and captivating exhibition proposals to enjoy an enriching and unique cultural experience’. The vice-president pointed out the intention of continuity in the time of this initiative of simultaneous change of the exhibitions in the exhibition rooms of the cultural centre: ‘The intention is to renew every three months the exhibitions in all the points of La Misericòrdia to make available to everyone a varied and attractive exhibition offer’.

Roca also highlighted the diversity of the proposals of this first season: ‘The five exhibitions that can be visited at La Misericòrdia until 8 March represent an attractive variety of exhibitions for all those who want to enjoy culture. During these months you can enjoy the exhibition ‘Past and Present’, 20 paintings from the studio of the painter Portaolaya, two photographic exhibitions: the project ‘… i somiegs’, by Catalina Ginard and the 36 photographs that reflect the history of the first specialised studios at the School of Arts and Crafts in Palma; as well as a documentary exhibition from the archive of the gallery owner Joan Guaita and a fun exhibition of caricatures by the famous illustrator Bibi’.
The five exhibitions can be visited in different areas of La Misericòrdia. In the adjoining rooms of the Aljibe, you can enjoy the painting exhibition ‘Past and present’, by the studio of the master artist Portaolaya and his daughters Cristina and Almudena Portales. In the chapel of the cultural centre, there will be the documentary exhibition ‘El archivo sentimental de Joan Guaita. 40 years in the world of art’. In the exhibition rooms of the Pati dels Homes, we will find: on the ground floor, ‘…i somieigs’, a photographic exhibition by Catalina Ginard; on the first floor, ‘9 anys d’ilustracions al Mallorca Bulletin’, by the illustrator Bibi, and, in the exhibition room on the third floor, ‘Pioneering photography studies. L’Escola d’Arts i Oficis de Palma 1991-2004’.
The first four exhibitions will be available from 24 January and the last one, the Escola d’Arts i Oficis, from 30 January. Visiting hours are from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (except public holidays).
