The government will appear as a popular accusation in the case of the murder of María del Rosario Díaz
The Consell de Govern has authorised the Law Office of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands to appear as a popular accusation in the criminal proceedings for the murder last December of María de Rosario Díaz.
This is the case against George Virgiliu Teianu, who allegedly stabbed to death his ex-partner, María del Rosario Díaz, in front of their three-year-old daughter, who was also injured, while the three of them were in a car. The events occurred on the 10th of December 2024 in Coll de en Rabassa in Palma and hit the Balearic Islands.
On 17th December 2024, the Balearic Women’s Institute reported the facts and the Court of Violence against Women number 3 of Palma opened the preliminary proceedings.
Once the circumstances of the facts had been studied, being an alleged crime of male violence committed in the Balearic Islands, which has caused the death of the victim, the legal requirements established in article 72 of Law 11/2016, of 28 July, on Equality between Men and Women were met.
Both the Balearic Institute for Women and the Councillor for Families and Social Affairs asked the Directorate of the Lawyers’ Office of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands to request authorisation to appear as a public prosecutor in the criminal proceedings, in the interest of the Administration of the Balearic Islands.
The Consell de Govern, under Law 11/2016 which provides for the appearance of the Administration in proceedings for acts of male violence committed in the Balearic Islands in which death or serious injury to women is caused, has authorised the Directorate of the Lawyers’ Office to act as a public prosecutor against the accused of murdering María del Rosario Díaz.
