The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities is providing 1.1 million euros for eight pre-doctoral contracts, 25% more than in the previous call for applications.
The contracts are aimed at areas with a structural deficit of accredited personnel, such as medicine, nursing, mathematics and computer science.
From today, 27 January 2025, until 26 February 2025, the call for applications for pre-doctoral contracts for the training of university teaching staff (FPU-CAIB 2025) in areas with a structural deficit of accredited staff is open.

The call for applications for FPU grants for the training of university lecturers is now open
The call has a budget of €1,105,052.48, with an increase of 25% over the previous call. This increase is part of the plan to dignify the start of the academic and research career promoted by the Conselleria d’Educació I Universitats to improve the remuneration and working conditions of new researchers. In this way, the competitiveness of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) as a source for the creation, absorption and transformation of knowledge is promoted.
The grants aim to support research training in doctoral programmes to obtain a doctoral degree and the acquisition of university teaching skills in areas with a structural deficit of accredited staff, such as medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, mathematics, applied pedagogy, law and philology, among others. In this way, the quality of teaching in these areas of knowledge is promoted.
The purpose of the grants also includes subsidies to cover tuition fees for trainee research staff. The concept of academic fees includes the academic supervision of the doctorate, the opening and maintenance of the dossier, and the defence of the doctoral thesis.
