The purpose of the flats is to provide housing for victims who are completing their recovery process.
The IBAVI has provided 27 homes for victims of gender-based violence and a total of 178 homes for different vulnerable groups.
The Institut Balear de l’Habitatge (IBAVI) has granted the Instituto de Trabajo Social y Servicios Sociales (Intress) two homes for women victims of male violence on the island of Mallorca, as part of its collaboration with the Institut Balear de la Dona (IBDONA). This is the first transfer of housing from IBAVI to Intress.
The councillor for Housing, Territory and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, accompanied by the manager of IBAVI, Roberto María Cayuela, signed the collaboration agreement with the director of IBDONA, Catalina Maria Salom, and the regional director of Intress, Trinidad Sánchez Sierra. This entity will manage and administer the homes, which will be made available to them during February.

The IBAVI cedes two flats for victims of gender-based violence to Intress in collaboration with IBDONA
The aim of this agreement is that the properties will be used as transitional housing for victims of gender violence who are completing their recovery process and lack access to a home that allows them to lead independent lives. The homes consist of between two and three bedrooms, with a surface area of between 73 and 89 square metres.
This agreement – an agreement for four years, extendable for a further four years – is part of the framework collaboration agreement between IBAVI and IBDONA, for the transfer of protected housing to administrations and entities that assist victims.
To apply for this housing, these administrations and entities must do so through IBDONA, which prepares the reports to determine which applications are accepted. In addition, IBDONA also collaborates with a maximum subsidy of 20,000 euros to acquire the equipment for the housing.
As highlighted by Councillor Mateo, with this agreement, the IBAVI has provided 27 homes for victims of male violence, out of a total of 178 homes agreed upon with third-sector organisations or public administrations for vulnerable people, to attend to different groups or specific situations. Of the total, 81 are for emergency housing situations, 42 for people with physical or mental disabilities, 28 for minors or young people at risk of social exclusion and 27 are for victims of gender violence.
Intress is a national association created 39 years ago by an interprofessional group to help to promote social and welfare services and works in the field of psychosocial intervention and labour integration, with people of different abilities and social exclusion. Among its objectives, it manages services aimed at the reception of victims of male violence and manages different transitory flats in Mallorca.
