The Archive of the Kingdom of Majorca has entered the notarial records over 100 years old thanks to the collaboration with the Notarial Association of the Balearic Islands
The notarial documentation provides a great deal of information for research into the social and economic history of Mallorca; for this reason, the notarial collection is the most consulted in the Archive of the Kingdom of Mallorca. With this reception, the Archive of the Kingdom of Mallorca will hold the notarial documentation from the period between the 13th century and 1923. This accession covers the notarial production of 127 notaries and represents a total of 3,661 volumes that occupy 457 linear metres.
Previously, there had only been one entry of notarial funds into the Archive of the Kingdom of Mallorca, approximately 60 years ago. For this reason, the public consultation of this documentation is much desired and demanded news for researchers, who, from now on, will be able to research the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the Mallorcan 20th century.
The documentation has been available to researchers for a few weeks now and has generated a great deal of interest.
