The institution has accepted the demands put forward and reiterates its commitment to improving working conditions in the child and adolescent protection sector.
The Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS) has validated the document presented by the trade unions which includes all the demands of the staff working in the residential care centres for children and adolescents with protection measures in Mallorca and which the institution has accepted within the framework of the negotiation of the insularity bonus. With this step, IMAS reiterates its commitment to the staffing of the centres as well as its willingness to resolve an issue that has been pending since 2012.

IMAS agrees on the conditions of the insularity bonus and awaits the final signature between trade unions and management
The councillor for Social Welfare and president of IMAS, Guillermo Sánchez, stressed that the current executive has been the first to address this issue with determination and willingness to dialogue: ‘These workers have had the right to the insularity bonus recognised for two legislatures, but until now no government of the Consell de Mallorca or IMAS had been willing to negotiate its application. Not only have we been willing to talk, but we have also worked to guarantee the rights of the sector’s workers.
It should be recalled that the proposed agreement was promoted by IMAS as a way to unblock the situation, although its application requires prior agreement between unions and employers, as established in the collective bargaining agreement.
In this sense, IMAS reaffirms its commitment to improving the working conditions of professionals working in the care and protection of children and adolescents and trusts that the parties involved will make progress in the final resolution of the agreement.
