The Government launches the Basic Course for Civil Defence Volunteers and adapts it to the real needs of the groups

To adapt the training to the real needs of the groups and in response to their suggestions, the EBAP has replaced the previous self-learning system with a face-to-face model, favouring direct contact between student and trainer, thus bridging the occasional digital divide observed in the past and providing the possibility of better understanding the contents of the subject to be studied. In this way, we have opted for the theoretical-practical modular face-to-face mode, subject to monitoring to assess its appropriate pedagogical implementation and acceptance among volunteers.

The course, which consists of six modules, will have a second edition next October with another 30 candidates for Mallorca and 30 to cover the needs of the island of Menorca.

All participants will be evaluated by their trainers and will have to pass the course as an essential requirement to be able to join the groups that have proposed them as candidates as Civil Defence volunteers.

The six modules planned for this edition are: Introduction to Civil Protection, Applicable Legislation and Regulations, Self-protection and Intervention in Traffic, Forest Fires, Techniques for Coping with Stress, First Aid and DESAQ and Knowledge and Use of the TETRAIB communications network.

Course on investigating people in large areas

On the other hand, a course on the investigation of people in large areas also began today at the new headquarters of the EBAP in Ibiza, given by members of the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) of the Guardia Civil and aimed at members of the AVPC of the Pitiusas Islands. This course, with 20 students, will take place between this Saturday and next Saturday and, soon, it will also take place in Mallorca.

The aim of this course, which in this first session has counted with the presence of Pablo Gárriz, is to identify the different types of investigations, to manage the instructions given in a place of command, and to know the structure and organisation as a working methodology. It will also train the students in the management of investigations in the assigned areas and in the optimisation of personal and material resources in ‘hot’ areas where people in difficulty can be located, and also with the communications systems and interpretation of digital topography with in situ tracking via their track.
