Fewer patients are waiting for a consultation or surgery and they are waiting for less time
The Waiting List Management Plan, launched by the Health Service a year ago, has reduced the waiting list for surgery by 22 days. Thus, it has gone from 125 days in December 2023 to 103 days. As for the delay for a consultation with a specialist, it has been reduced by seven days: from 91 days in 2023 to 84 in 2024.
Throughout 2024, the Health Service has managed to reverse the trend of recent years. Fewer patients are waiting for a consultation or surgery and they are waiting less time.

Health reduces the waiting list for surgery by 22 days
In terms of the surgical waiting list, on 31 December 2024, there were 13,624 patients awaiting surgery in Health Service hospitals, of whom 2,158 were waiting more than 180 days for surgery and the average delay is 103 days. These figures are much lower than last year when there were 14,584 patients, of whom 3,136 were waiting more than 180 days and the average delay was 125 days.

Five care services account for 83.3% of the total waiting list of patients awaiting surgery
These are general and digestive surgery, adult orthopaedic surgery and traumatology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and urology.
Concerning the waiting list for consultations with a specialist, the number of patients on the waiting list has fallen over the last year, especially those waiting more than 60 days for a consultation with a specialist. Thus, on 31 December 2024, 79,170 patients were waiting for a consultation with a specialist, of whom 35,520 were waiting more than 60 days, with an average delay of 84 days. These figures represent a decrease compared to the same period last year when there were 82,232 patients, of whom 38,751 were waiting more than 60 days and the average delay was 91 days.
