The total cost of the work was 176,778.10 €, entirely assumed by the CIM.
The Camí dels Horts bridge in the Cala en Porter ravine, in the municipality of Alaior, is now fully restored after the last reconstruction work on the infrastructure was completed at the end of last week.
The reconstruction, which started in October 2024 and was carried out in several phases, has been possible thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between the Consell Insular de Menorca and the Alaior Town Council, owner of the roads that connect this infrastructure. This Wednesday, 19th February, representatives of the Consell and the town council visited the area to see the result of the reconstruction.

The Camí dels Horts bridge in the Cala en Porter ravine affected by last August’s SWD has been restored
The restoration work had a total cost of 176,778.10 € (VAT included), broken down into the execution of the works themselves (167,793.85 €, VAT included) and the tasks of project drafting, work management and health and safety coordination (8,984.25 €, VAT included), and have been assumed in full by the Consell Insular de Menorca (Island Council of Menorca).
The bridge had been seriously affected by the floods of the DANA last August, especially abundant in the ravine of Cala en Porter, with significant damage to its structure, preventing traffic and road access.
‘This was an essential repair to guarantee mobility and safety in the area, given the importance of the infrastructure,’ explained Simón Gornés, Menorca’s councillor for the environment, biosphere reserve and cooperation. ‘The bridge is the only road and pedestrian connection point to cross the Cala en Porter ravine in the area and allows access to several homes and farms, as well as emergency vehicle traffic. At present, there are no nearby alternatives that could replace this infrastructure. It is also located on the 16th route of the Camí de Cavalls, and is therefore also used by hikers and visitors to cross the ravine. For this reason,it was important to restore it’, concluded councillor Gornés.
