The island institution brings together experts in digital security and mental health to address the risks of the digital environment and the responsible use of technology in young people.
The Consell de Mallorca has held the fifth conference of the ‘Salut Mental en la Joventut’ programme, focusing on digital risks and their impact on the mental health of young people. The event was attended by Federico Chacón, inspector of Citizen Participation of the National Police Corps; José Díaz, police officer and expert in cybercrime; and psychologists Mercedes Cimas and Shannon de Jesús, from the Official College of Psychology of the Balearic Islands.
During the conference, key issues such as the risks associated with the use of social networks, privacy in the digital environment, new forms of cybercrime and the impact of excessive use of technology on the mental health of young people were discussed. In addition, practical tools have been provided to prevent risky situations, promote responsible use of the internet and improve digital education.

The councillor for the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, stressed that ‘these conferences are an opportunity to raise awareness and offer real strategies for dealing with digital risks’. Antoni Fuster underlined the Consell de Mallorca’s commitment to this initiative, assuring that ‘we will continue working to provide spaces for debate and learning on key issues for the well-being of young people’.
The series of conferences will continue on 19 March with a new session dedicated to a topic of current relevance: ‘Bullying and cyberbullying’.
