The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, attended the fashion show by Mallorcan designer Pablo Erroz as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid programme. This was a show of support for local products at the country’s most important fashion fair.

Galmés watched the fashion show accompanied by the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, and the island’s director of Economic Promotion and Product of Mallorca, Álvaro Roca, among other island authorities, headed by the president of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens.

President Galmés attends the fashion show of designer Pablo Erroz at Fashion Week in Madrid to support local fashion

The Mallorcan designer has received institutional aid from the Consell de Mallorca through a line of Economic Promotion subsidies, in which ‘an opening is made to projects that are developed outside the island, intending to promote local products, crafts and recognise Mallorcan talent’.

According to Llorenç Galmés, the idea is ‘to encourage economic activities that diversify our local offer and that, at the same time, boost productive sectors as important for the island as small businesses and promote local consumption’.

For her part, Councillor Pilar Amate stressed ‘the importance of supporting the fashion sector which, as in the case of Pablo Erroz, recovers artisanal techniques, uses our fabrics and, in short, represents Mallorca and its cultural and traditional values’.

After the fashion show, the president of the Consell de Mallorca met with the designer. In this meeting, Llorenç Galmés conveyed the island’s commitment to supporting Mallorcan fashion brands and thanked him for his contribution to promoting local products at the country’s most important fashion fair.
