In this new edition, priority will be given to participants in the programme ‘Trobades de conversa’.

The activities, which will take place on the four islands, begin with three excursions in Mallorca on 9 March, 5 April and 24 May.

The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) resumes ‘La llengua camina’ with new excursions for this spring 2025

The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) resumes ‘La llengua camina’, an initiative designed to promote the use of the Catalan language through excursions. The activity aims to create spaces for socialising in which Catalan speakers and people who want to practise the Catalan language can participate and thus generate contexts and situations of contact with Catalan. Also, in this new edition, priority will be given to participants in the programme ‘Trobades de conversa’ of the IEB.

The first excursion will take place next Sunday, 9th March, in the houses and estate of Son Torrella, at the foot of Puig Major. The second meeting is scheduled for the first Saturday of April, the 5th, in Es Turassot and the castle of Amós, in Costitx. The last excursion in Mallorca will take place on the occasion of the Costa i Llobera Year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of ‘El pi de Formentor’, on the 24th of May.

The activity will continue throughout the year and different excursions will be programmed in the rest of the islands.

This initiative, which is completely free of charge, will also serve to raise awareness of the heritage, natural and cultural elements of our islands.
