Mallorca presents itself at the Mobile World Congress as a technological hub in the Mediterranean, combining tourism and technology
The island’s stand includes the participation of seven technology companies based in Mallorca, each of which, in addition to having space for meetings and networking, is carrying out a full programme of presentations, to publicise the great technological potential that exists.
The seven co-exhibiting companies present at the Mallorca stand are Anlak, Beloo, Gladtolink, Posidonity, Quality Noc, Trifork and WDNA.
The Minister of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez, accompanied by the Director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality, Marco Táboas, is taking part in the fair to support Mallorca’s sector and to explain first-hand the process being worked on to the main technological partners on the international scene. ‘We are taking advantage of Mallorca’s prestige as a tourist destination and integrating it with the growing demand for technological innovation. With its resources and unique environment, we are ready to become a technological hub in the Mediterranean’.
The aim, Rodríguez added, ‘is to generate an impact on the local economy and new business opportunities. The island is expected to boost the creation of valuable employment in sectors complementary to traditional tourism, such as technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. Through these initiatives, an economic environment that does not require a high consumption of resources or a negative impact on the territory is promoted’.
In the context of the fair, the delegation of Mallorca has been able to carry out an agenda of contacts with some of the main players in the technology sector. Both Rodríguez and Táboas held meetings this Monday on the opening day with representatives of companies such as Vodafone, Siemens and Huawei, to whom they conveyed the Consell de Mallorca’s desire to establish synergies between the two parties.

As for the Department of Modernisation, Transparency and Innovation, the Councillor of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, met with various companies in the sector to learn first-hand about current trends and promote synergies that improve the accessibility of the public administration to citizens.
For her part, the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, attended the MWC, with the aim of exploring technological advances and digital protection solutions for the island’s local councils, reinforcing the security of their systems and optimising the services provided by the Consell de Mallorca.
