The Council of Eivissa has presented its programme of activities for 8 March, International Women’s Day, which, as explained by the councillor for Social Welfare, Family and Equality, Carolina Escandell, is a collaborative programme with all the local councils and with events and events aimed at promoting equality, ‘You can see that in this programme there is plenty of sport with different activities, some of them historically linked to men, and we want to encourage female representation, including in this programme disciplines such as women’s rugby and women’s football’.

The Consell d’Eivissa presents an extensive programme of events for 8M with the slogan ‘for an inclusive look at equality’
The programme starts on the 8th of March with a women’s day of the Seven Rugbi Balear league at the Carnes March rugby field in Sant Llorenç Balàfia, from 12 to 2 pm, followed in the afternoon by the official demonstration, which will begin at 5 pm and start at Plaça Julià Verdera in Figueretes. On the following day, Sunday 9 March, there will be a race for women in Ibiza, with the slogan ‘the best race, the best goal’, which also starts in Plaça Julià Verdera and finishes in Plaça de Sant Jordi, in the town of Sant Josep. Registration for this national race is open at www.carreradelamujeribiza.com.
Meanwhile, on the 14th and 15th of March, there will be a football day before the Lliga 5 for girls, on the football field of Puig d’en Valls, from 9.30 to 11.30 am. In addition, organised by the Sant Antoni Town Council with the collaboration of the Council of Eivissa, there will be a workshop on self-healing, personal courage and body self-esteem, given by Eva Vásquez in Sa Punta des Molí.
On 15th March, Encarna de les Heras will give an oral storytelling performance entitled ‘Cuentos que nos han contado’ (Stories we have been told) in the Sant Joan de Labritja Town Hall plenary hall at 7 pm. Afterwards, in the same space at 8.30 p.m., there will be a musical performance by Jon Michell’s group Heritage.
On 22nd May, organised by the Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council in collaboration with the Council of Eivissa, the theatre play ‘Feas’ by the Maracaibo company will be performed. ‘It’s quite funny, it will be at 7.30 pm at the Jesús Cultural Centre, open to the public until full capacity is reached’, the councillor stressed.
On 26 March there will be a conference by Marina Marroquí, ‘who is a first-rate educator, entitled “How to build an effective-sexual education based on equality”. It will be held at the Eivissa and Formentera campus of the University of the Balearic Islands, in the old building of the Comandància, and will also be open to the general public from 5:00 pm.
On the 28th of March, in Sant Jordi, organised by the Sant Josep Town Hall, there will be a performance by the musical group Ruda, music in the female key, in the Plaça de Sant Jordi in Ses Salines at 7 pm.
On 30 March there will be a play for families, called ‘L’autobús de na Rosa és per a totes. Noves dones, l’autobús adaptat de na Rosa Park’, by Fada Despistada, as well as a dramatised concert for all audiences. Both in the Jesús Cultural Centre, it will begin at 11:30 a.m. and is organised by the Institut Balear de la Dona in collaboration with Aspes Mallorca, ‘an association of deaf people who deploy a series of technologies to make shows more accessible to people with hearing difficulties’. Finally, on 9th April from 8 am to 4 pm, a training CONFERENCE ‘An inclusive look at equality’, aimed at professionals, will be held at the Jesús Cultural Centre’.
Likewise, within the framework of this programme, the CEPCA, the Centre for the Study and Prevention of Addictive Behaviour of the Council of Eivissa, will distribute, as part of the educational actions, an egalitarian game aimed at all pupils in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades of primary school, We have carried out this action on several occasions, changing the game, and next year it will be the io-io with the slogan ‘Eivissa vol Igualtat’ (Ibiza wants Equality)’.
Finally, the Department of Equality presented for the first time a report on the actions that have been carried out, with a total of 8 educational actions, 8 awareness and prevention actions and 4 training actions.

As the councillor explained, ‘the Women’s Office has made an enormous leap forward in these five years, both qualitatively and quantitatively, especially in terms of structure, and that is why today we are announcing the incorporation of a new director into the structure of the Women’s Office, Lourdes García’, the councillor explained that ’the current director, Tonyi Ferrer, will continue to participate and will continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Women’s Office, but she will do so from a second line.
