The second vice-president and councillor for the Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports has highlighted that ‘the programme of the Sports area of the Consell has a great acceptance among families due to its format, which includes different circuits designed for all ages and integrated in nature or in the villages that host the races. In 2025 it is expected to bring together almost 3,000 participants’.

The route of the Galatzó races, which was launched in 2024, allows the participants to get to know the heritage of the Consell de Mallorca estate, as it passes along the Sa Sínia path and the Ses Planes area, where the old water mills are located, an emblematic construction of the Galatzó estate dating from the time of the Christian conquest (1229) and which used the power of water to grind cereals and obtain flour.

The watermills were restored as part of the Consell de Mallorca’s Historic Industrial Heritage Restoration Programme between 2017-2020. They are two superimposed mills linked by a ditch. The water is deposited in a 1,400,000-litre pond.
