This will be held in Menorca on the 17th, 18th and 19th of March.
The Department of Economy and General Services of the Consell Insular de Menorca has signed a collaboration agreement with the Asociación Frisona Balear to support the 42nd edition of the Escuela Nacional de Jueces Ganaderos (National School of Livestock Judges) to be held on 17, 18 and 19 March 2025. The department will contribute to this agreement with a maximum total contribution of 20,000 euros.
The Frisona Balear Association is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1977 to promote animal welfare, milk quality and the development of quality livestock farming in the Balearic Islands, as well as raise awareness among livestock farmers of the problems affecting their activity and bringing them closer to the needs and aspirations of the livestock sector. This association brings together almost all the select Friesian cattle in the community. At the end of 2024, there were 116 associated farms, 102 of which were located in Menorca.

Menorca grants 20,000 euros to the Asociación Frisona Balear to carry out the National School for Livestock Judges 2025
The 42nd edition of the National School of Livestock Judges, held in Menorca, is organised by the National Confederation of Friesian Associations of Spain (CONAFE), with the collaboration of the Balearic Friesian Association. It is expected to be attended by a large number of farmers and technicians from different parts of the Islands and other autonomous communities.
The aim of this school is, on the one hand, to train livestock judges from among the farmers themselves, true judges capable of acting in the competitions and contests that take place, and on the other hand, to provide morphological knowledge about the animal, which will improve the level of livestock, correcting defects or enhancing the virtues of the animals through better use of genetic material, something that will ensure a higher quality offspring.
‘To achieve top-quality Friesian livestock farming, it is essential that those involved in the sector have as much knowledge as possible in areas such as animal reproduction, morphology, presentation, handling and feeding, among others. With this agreement, which is being signed for the first time, we are allowing the Frisona Balear Association to cover the costs of coordinating and organising the training, as well as the costs of preparing the animals and the spaces where it will take place, in line with the objectives of making a positive contribution to the training of livestock farmers,’ says the councillor of the department, Maria Antònia Taltavull.
The school’s practical programme will be complemented with talks on morphology and breed judging, as well as sessions on how to assess the descriptive characteristics of the animals.
