SAMU 061 attended 4.7% more incidents in 2024 than in the previous year (199,932 incidents derived from the 671,768 calls handled by the Coordination Center). Most of the assistance activity is linked to diseases of the cardiac system (23,246 attendance), diseases of the musculoskeletal system (22,752 attendance), infectious diseases (15,466 attendance), and diseases of the nervous system (12,679 attendance), among others. These data are set out in the SAMU 061 Annual Report, presented by the Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, the general director of the Health Service, Javier Ureña, the manager of SAMU 061, Eloy Villalba, and the medical director, Txema Álvarez.

SAMU061 attended in 2024 4.7% more incidents than in the previous year
During 2024 SAMU 061 mobilized advanced life support ambulances on 17,994 occasions (8.6% more than during 2023). Basic life support ambulances were mobilized 84,360 times (1.1 % more), while the rapid intervention vehicle (VIR) was mobilized 4,211 times and aerial means 1,332 times.
SAMU061 is made up of 883 professionals who have received a total of 1,048 hours of training through 123 training actions, offering a total of 4,397 training places.
The out-of-hospital emergency services of the Balearic Islands are a national reference due to the good results of the immediate intervention assistance codes. During the year 2024, the demand for practically all the assistance codes grew. Thus, the CRA code (cardiorespiratory arrest) was activated to attend a total of 507 patients (up 14.7%); the AMI code (acute myocardial infarction) was activated 376 times (up 26.1%); the severe trauma code was activated 462 times (up 10%); the stroke code was activated to attend 801 patients (up 15.2%); the CRS code (suicidal risk behavior) was activated to attend 1,920 patients and 1,920 patients were transferred to the hospital (up 15.2%); and the CRS code (suicidal risk behavior) was activated to attend 1,920 patients and transferred to the hospital. 920 patients and 12 patients were transferred with extracorporeal oxygenation).
In 2024 SAMU 061 received the Ministry of Health Award for Excellence in the Framework of the National Health System Cardiovascular Health Strategy for the CPR at School project and the Angels Award, in collaboration with the European Stroke Society, for Excellence in Quality Stroke Care.
