The Balearic Women’s Institute, IBDONA, has published the call for entries for the ‘IBDONA Illustration Competition’ on the occasion of 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, 2025. The aim is to promote participation in raising awareness of male violence through the design of illustrations that serve as tools for denouncing and reflecting on male violence against women. IBDONA thus aims to generate social debate on the causes and consequences of male violence, promote gender equality and respect and foster a culture based on equality between women and men, free of stereotypes and discrimination.

The illustrations submitted must be original and unpublished and must not have been awarded prizes in any other competition. They may be of any style or technique as long as they are reproducible. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or similar technological means is permitted. However, it will be taken into account that, if AI is used, human involvement and decision will prevail over the use of this technology.

The assessment criteria according to which the illustrations will be scored are: originality of the idea and approach of the proposal; technical and aesthetic quality; capacity to transmit and symbolic and iconographic richness; and appropriateness of the illustration to the theme of the call in terms of the objectives set out.

A first prize of 3,000 euros

Those wishing to take part in the competition must be residents of the Balearic Islands and may only submit one illustration. There will be a first prize of 3,000 euros, a second prize of 1,800 euros and a third prize of 1,200 euros. The deadline for submitting illustrations will be thirty calendar days from tomorrow.

The prizes will be awarded at a public event and the winning illustrations will form part, among others, of educational campaigns that help to reinforce the message of awareness and elimination of violence against women.
