The councillor of Health, Manuela García, aims to improve knowledge of these pathologies to obtain an earlier diagnosis.

More than two hundred children and adolescents in the Balearic Islands suffer from various rheumatic diseases
The CONFERENCE brought together specialists, patients and relatives from all over the Balearic Islands to give visibility to children who, from an early age, are affected by pathologies such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic autoimmune diseases, vasculitis or autoinflammatory diseases, which can significantly alter their quality of life.
The event was opened by the Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, who has set the objective of improving knowledge of these diseases, both in the health and educational spheres, to detect them earlier and allow children who suffer from them to have a better quality of life.
The meeting was attended by paediatricians, immunologists, resident doctors, nurses and physiotherapists, who discussed theoretical aspects and approaches, as well as the importance of self-care and physical exercise in children’s rheumatic diseases. In addition, some patients have collaborated in this, by sharing their experience with the disease through their research work.
For their part, Isabel Pérez and Andrea Puerto, nurse and TCAE of the Hospital, respectively, and some members of the ConArtritis association presented a book written by patients, a valuable testimony that brings together their experiences, challenges and lessons learned in living with the disease.
One of the most emotional moments of the meeting was the closing ceremony, in which the Mallorcan athlete Daniela García, European under-23 champion in the 800 metres, encouraged the children to never give up and to fulfil their dreams. There could not have been a better closing than the live performance of Jaume Anglada, with songs such as ‘Cuida’m’ or ‘A tu lado’.
