The Firefighters of Majorca carried out 213 training activities in 2024, an absolute record
The island’s director of Emergencies, Joan Fornàs, considers that ‘training, preparation and education are essential when it comes to dealing with an emergency with guarantees. Continuous training and improving procedures are essential to offering a quality service to all Mallorcans.
In addition to this training, the Mallorca Fire Brigade organises or participates in several emergency drills throughout the year. In 2024 the emergency corps of the Consell de Mallorca organised a fire drill with people trapped in TIRME, took part in the drill of the security forces of the Balearic Islands and the UME in the port of Alcúdia, and took part in different exercises simulating chemical risk situations, among others. They also organise drills in schools and in the facilities of the Consell de Mallorca.
Daily practice has also been consolidated in all fire stations and on all shifts. Every day, the shift on duty in each fire station carries out a drill to reinforce standardised procedures and work protocols.
For their part, the Mountain Rescue Group and the Canine Search and Rescue Group carry out eight training exercises a year. The aim of these exercises is to promote and strengthen teamwork in a coordinated and collaborative manner and to improve professional skills in rescue techniques and procedures.
Thus, the Consell de Mallorca continues with its clear commitment to the specialisation and continuous training of the Mallorca Fire Service, all to improve the operational capabilities of the corps and provide the best response to the people of Mallorca.
