Appointment of Alfons Gómez Rosselló as Director General of Industry and Industrial Estates

Gómez, who until now held the position of Head of Cabinet at the same ministry, holds a degree in Economics from the University of the Balearic Islands and has continued his academic training with an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the EAE Business School and a Master’s Degree in Financial Management and Management Control from the UNIR. He has also held positions of responsibility in the private sector in the areas of economics and finance.

The Consell de Govern has also agreed to the dismissal of Ingrid de la Fuente Loof, who has resigned for personal reasons, and thanked her for her services.

It should be noted that, as director general, De la Fuente has led various initiatives to boost employment and the industrial fabric, including the development of the draft bill for the new Law on Industrial Promotion Areas and the liberalisation of the technical vehicle inspection (ITV) station sector in coordination with the island councils, to reduce waiting times, improve the quality standards of the service and alleviating the existing shortage of stations. Likewise, his department has managed to grant record amounts of aid to the industry and has introduced long-standing demands of the sector into the calls for proposals.
