The councillor for Tourism closed the forum and stated that ‘the active participation of the community and the sector in decision-making is essential, and the role of the town councils is fundamental’.
The Consell de Mallorca’s Department of Tourism held a new Forum on Tourism Governance and Sustainability in Mallorca this Friday at the Auditori Sa Màniga in Cala Millor, in one of the island’s main tourist areas and the first of those to be held throughout 2025 in the different areas of Mallorca.
Throughout the day, the more than 100 attendees were able to listen, participate and discuss the strategies and future objectives that the Island’s Directorate of Tourism, which was created during this legislature and focuses on governance and sustainability, has for Mallorca. Both its head, Pedro Mas, and the councillor for Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, have advanced in the opening and closing of the forum the guidelines that govern the legislature in the department.

The day began with an opening speech by Jaume Soler, Mayor of Sant Llorenç, followed by a presentation by Pedro Mas of his department’s road map and the objectives of the legislature. He announced that since the beginning of the legislature he has already visited ‘all the town councils of Mallorca, held more than 100 technical meetings with the institutions and, in addition, we have 20 projects of our own underway from this new island directorate that I direct, whose objective is to value the work of the town councils and help them’.
‘Collaboration with all the local councils has been active and constant throughout the entire legislature, in order to gain first-hand knowledge of the development of activity in each territory and at each moment in time. We start from the conviction that they are different’, he added.
