The councillor Antoni Vera participates in the Physical Education Day events in the streets of Eivissa

The councillor of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera; the regional secretary of Educational Development, Mateu Suñer; the director general of Early Childhood, Attention to Diversity and Educational Improvement, Neus Riera, and the territorial director of Education in Eivissa and Formentera, Juan Álvarez, participated today in the events held on the occasion of Physical Education Day in the streets of Eivissa. The day, which this year reaches its 15th edition under the slogan “Physical Education: a powerful tool for inclusion”, is organised by the Col-legi Oficial de Llicenciats en Educació Física i Esport (COLEF) de les Illes Balears (Official College of Physical Education and Sports Graduates of the Balearic Islands).

The councillor Antoni Vera participates in the Physical Education Day events in the streets of Eivissa

In Eivissa, the activities took place in the Plaça d’Antoni Albert i Nieto, with the participation of students from CEIP Sa Bodega, CEIP Portal Nou and CEIP Sa Graduada.

This day is held throughout Spain and, in this year’s edition, more than 860 primary schools and more than 154,000 pupils took part. In the case of the Balearic Islands, 56 schools and some 10,000 students have registered. The main objective of this day is to show that physical education not only contributes to improving physical and mental health but is also an effective tool for combating social barriers, and promoting equality and respect for diversity.
