The group Pinyol Vermell will be in charge of staging this revamped performance that combines theatre, photography and music
The Consell de Mallorca is organising this Sunday, the 13th of April, at 8 pm, in the parish church of Santa Maria de Sineu, the staging of the play Apassionant, which represents the story of the Passion in an updated form.
After the success of the first edition, held last year in La Misericòrdia, the island institution has decided to repeat this event for the second year running as a unique cultural experience that unites tradition and modernity. Admission is free for all audiences who wish to enjoy the Stations of the Cross, performed by eight actors in an original staging that combines different languages such as theatre, photography and music.

The Consell de Mallorca organises a Stations of the Cross this Sunday in Sineu
The group Pinyol Vermell, with 16 years of dedication to the promotion of popular culture, especially in the field of traditional music and costume, will be in charge of staging this play. Lasting approximately 50 minutes, Apassionant will narrate the events of the Passion, from the arrival in Jerusalem and the condemnation by Pontius Pilate to the death of Judas and the resurrection of Jesus. In addition, the show will include 18th-century costumes worn by characters such as Jesus, Mary, Mary Magdalene and Judas, among others.
The vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, explained that “after last year’s excellent reception, this year we want to continue offering a renewed and updated vision of the Stations of the Cross. Apassionant, by Pinyol Vermell, is a reinterpretation of the Way of the Cross that moves away from the traditional ones that are common during these festivities in different parts of Mallorca. In this new format, photography and music play a prominent role and offer a new perspective of the Stations of the Cross, in which each image and each verse have a profound meaning that invites the public to reflect”.
