To continue using the charging stations, it will be essential to download the new mobile application, available for Android and ios
This measure is part of the shock plan for the improvement of the Electric Mobility Network of the Balearic Islands
The Ministry of Enterprise, Employment and Energy, through the Balearic Institute of Energy (IBE), has begun the migration of all charging points for electric vehicles to the new mobile application of the MELIB network. Thus, after 15 days of coexistence between the previous software and the new one, the IBE has begun to progressively transfer the charging points to the new platform.

The Government begins the migration of charging points of the MELIB network to the new mobile application
To continue using the charging stations of the public network, it will be necessary to download the new mobile application, available for Android and ios. The access link and all the detailed information can be consulted on the website of the Balearic Energy Institute: https://institutbalearenergia.com/xarxa-melib/.
This measure represents a step forward in the modernisation of the service and responds to the desire to improve the user experience. The new MELIB 2025 application offers a more intuitive interface and greater stability in operation, which will allow for more efficient management of recharging points.
The migration process will be carried out progressively over the next few weeks. In the meantime, users will be kept informed through the usual IBE channels.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Enterprise, Employment and Energy is implementing, through IBE, an improvement plan for the Balearic Islands Electric Mobility Network (MELIB).
The plan has been designed based on the results of an audit of the MELIB and has taken into account the results of user surveys.
Within the framework of this initiative, agreements have been established with the main private operators (Endesa and Iberdrola) for their adhesion to the MELIB network, and work is underway to bring other private operators on board.
This measure is expected to lead to the incorporation of more than 600 new recharging points. Of these, more than 10% will be fast charging points. In addition, the prices set for charging will be defined by each operator.
The MELIB network currently has 1,074 charging points, spread across the islands of Mallorca (780), Menorca (116), Eivissa (120) and Formentera (58). The agreements with Iberdrola and Endesa will enable the network to be expanded, which will have around 1,700 charging infrastructures, almost 50% more.
The shock plan also includes improvements in the maintenance of the MELIB. Thus, the IBE has contracted a new service with a specialised company, operational since November, which will provide immediate assistance to municipalities, island councils and all owners of charging points. This measure is a response to the faults detected, which affected almost 30% of the network.
In addition, the replacement of 50 obsolete charging stations is underway, the cost of which will be assumed by IBE. At present, half of this equipment has already been replaced, and it is expected that the complete replacement of this equipment will be completed during the month of April.
