The President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens, along with the other members of the Consell de Govern, express their condolences on the passing of Pere Sampol i Mas, who served as Vice President of the Government of the Balearic Islands and as a regional senator.

Born in Montuïri in 1951 and holding a degree as a Technical Engineer in Industrial Electronics, Sampol began his political career at the municipal level, serving as a councillor in his hometown from 1983 to 1993. His commitment to Mallorca and social justice led him to take on roles within both regional and island institutions: he served as Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca, Vice President of the Government during the first Pacte de Progrés (1999–2003), and Minister of Economy and Industry. Later, he was appointed as a regional senator.
