The Consell Insular de Menorca has published in the Official Bulletin of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) the call and guidelines for individual financial aid for people over 65 and people with recognised disabilities, with a total amount of €300,000. The aim is to address socio-healthcare needs, improve quality of life, and promote well-being.

This year, the funding has increased by €50,000 compared to last year, aiming to meet the needs identified after an increase of over 110 applications received in 2024, when a total of 307 grants were awarded, 44% more than the previous year.

The call is divided into two lines: €150,000 for people over 65 and €150,000 for people with disabilities. This total amount represents an increase of €50,000 compared to last year, with an additional €25,000 allocated to each line, previously set at €125,000 each. The maximum amount per beneficiary is €2,500, and up to 100% of the eligible expenses may be granted, depending on the household income level. Coverage percentages are 50%, 75%, or 100%, depending on the specific case.

The Consell Insular Allocates €300,000 in Aid for People Over 65 and People with Disabilities

This non-periodic financial aid covers expenses incurred between June 29, 2024, and May 26, 2025, for needs such as technical aids (prostheses, orthoses, and mobility or communication aids), minor functional home adaptations, and professional socio-healthcare treatments not covered by the public system (psychomotricity, speech therapy, psycho-pedagogical treatment, psychotherapy), among others.

Applicants must be registered residents of Menorca and submit the required documentation according to the type of aid requested. As in previous calls, applicants may authorise the administration to access necessary documents directly, thus simplifying the application process.

For applications including additional household members (such as a spouse, registered partner, or legal guardians), all relevant data must be completed, and the appropriate signatures provided.

Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Citizen Service Offices (SAC) of the Consell Insular de Menorca in Maó and Ciutadella, or online via the Consell’s website through the following link: Apply Here.

Since last year, the Social Welfare Department of the Consell Insular has also offered a priority assistance point at the Consell headquarters in Maó (ground floor) and Platja Gran in Ciutadella, providing in-person advice and support for documentation and application procedures related to social aid programs.

The deadline to submit applications is Monday, May 26, 2025. Expenses incurred between June 29, 2024, and May 26, 2025, will be eligible for subsidies.

The full guidelines, including all conditions, requirements, necessary documentation, eligible expenses, and instructions on how to apply, are available in the attached document.
