On the occasion of the International Day Against Bullying, the Ministry of Education and the Universities of the Balearic Islands reaffirm their commitment to the prevention, detection, and intervention of any form of peer violence in schools. As of today, during the 2024/2025 academic year, 683 bullying protocols have been opened — a figure that remains stable compared to previous years: 748 in 2023/2024 and 760 in 2022/2023. These figures reflect the consolidation of preventive actions and strengthened support for educational centres when bullying is suspected.
It is important to clarify that the opening of a protocol does not confirm a case of bullying, but rather indicates a possible situation that requires analysis and follow-up under established procedures.

Education Ministry Highlights Stability in Bullying Data and Strengthens Commitment to Prevention and School Support
The territorial distribution of the opened protocols this school year mirrors the population distribution of the islands:
- Mallorca: 79% (525 protocols)
- Eivissa: 13.5% (104)
- Menorca: 7% (46)
- Formentera: 0.5% (3 cases)
By educational stage, most protocols are initiated in compulsory secondary education (60%), followed by primary education (33%), vocational training and adult education (3.9%), baccalaureate (2.12%), and preschool education (1%).
Regarding the gender of the alleged victims, 54.6% of the protocols concern girls and 45.3% boys.
The Convivèxit service plays a key role in tackling school bullying, offering continuous guidance to both schools and families from the first indication of a potential issue. It accompanies the management of each case, conducts follow-ups, and promotes awareness-raising activities throughout the educational community. The protocol for handling bullying cases is regularly reviewed and updated to adapt to new forms of violence and ensure it remains a useful, effective, and practical tool in schools.
To support this mission, the Government of the Balearic Islands has also introduced school psychologists in secondary education as a pioneering initiative this year. While not directly managing bullying cases, these professionals assist students with emotional and behavioural challenges, helping to identify vulnerability and promote well-being. They work closely with teaching teams and guidance counsellors to reinforce comprehensive care and strengthen preventive and intervention measures.
