The Consell de Mallorca has unanimously approved the 2025 recipients of the Premis, Honours i Distincions, which recognise individuals and organisations that have significantly contributed to the island’s development. These awards will be presented during the Diada de Mallorca on September 12 at the Teatre Principal in Palma.

Medal of Honour and Gratitude of the Island of Mallorca
- Dr. Joan Carulla: For his pivotal role in expanding and improving social and health services in Mallorca as the managing director of Sant Joan de Déu hospitals in Palma and Inca.
- Little Sisters of the Poor (Germanetes dels Pobres): For their longstanding support of elderly individuals in vulnerable situations, offering care and dignity to many without resources.
- Garden Hotels: For pioneering sustainability and circular economy initiatives in tourism, notably their zero-plastic project, and promoting environmental values among new generations.
- Association of Friends of the Railway of the Balearic Islands (AAFIB): For exemplary work in preserving the Balearic Islands’ railway heritage since 1989, including restoring historical materials and organising educational activities.
- Women of the Marshlands of Sa Pobla (Dones marjaleres de sa Pobla): For their historical contribution to the municipality’s economy and society, balancing agricultural work with family care.
- Francesc Pomar (1942–2025): Posthumously honoured for founding Pastisseries Pomar and blending tradition, innovation, and Mallorcan identity in quality gastronomy.
- Toni Frontera: For his distinguished career in trotting races in Mallorca, achieving seven victories in the Gran Premi Nacional, a historic record in the sport.
- Joan Company Florit: For over 45 years, as founder and director of the University Choir of the Balearic Islands, promoting Mallorcan choral music globally and directing the Cathedral of Mallorca’s chapel.
- Pau Cladera Marroig: An 18-year-old composer, pianist, and conductor, recognised for works like “La croada al Regne sobre el mar” and “Reminiscències rurals,” which blend classical music with the island’s heritage.
- Licors Moyà: For their legacy in producing traditional liqueurs since the 19th century in Artà, maintaining artisanal quality across six family generations.
- Cafés Bay: For their journey from a local coffee roasting company founded in 1952 to a national reference in speciality coffee, emphasising sustainability.
- Francesc Antich (1958–2025): For his dedication to public service as President of the Balearic Islands Government and his efforts to strengthen Mallorca’s institutions.
- Jeroni Albertí i Picornell (1927–2024): Posthumously honoured for his decisive role during the democratic transition of the Balearic Islands, serving as the first president of the Consell General Interinsular and the Consell de Mallorca.
Jaume II Awards
- Forn des Pla de na Tesa: Celebrating its 125th anniversary as a landmark bakery and pastry shop, representing the essence of local, handcrafted products.
- Association Sport for Equality: For promoting equality and social inclusion through sports, notably the “Zapatillas en Igualdad” project, providing sports shoes to at-risk youth.
- Jardines de Alfabia: Recognised as a historic garden in Mallorca with over 800 years of history, preserving elements of Islamic, Gothic, and Baroque architecture.
- Mountain Rescue Group of the Consell de Mallorca: On its 25th anniversary, honoured for exemplary service in rescue operations and emergencies in challenging terrains.
- Álex Sánchez Palomero: For his elite sports career and commitment to Mallorca since 2007, achieving multiple world and European championships in paratriathlon and aquathlon.
- Siloé Association: For 30 years of providing shelter, care, and support to people with HIV in vulnerable situations, pioneering comprehensive residential care in Mallorca.
- Embat Llibres: Celebrating its 50th anniversary as a reference bookstore in Palma, serving as a literary meeting point and cultural promoter since 1975.
- Association of Friends of the Castle of San Carlos: For preserving and revitalising the castle as a military museum and cultural space, turning it into a civic meeting point.
- Madò Pereta: For her career as an icon of Mallorcan humour and popular culture, bringing satire and unique identity to local stages for over twenty years.
Adoptive and Favorite Sons of the Island of Mallorca
- Luis Maraver: Named Adoptive Son for his distinguished career as a visual artist residing in Mallorca since 1972, linking art with social commitment.
- Joan Llull: Named Favorite Son as the founder of Hipotels Hotels & Resorts, recognized for pioneering tourism development in eastern Mallorca.
- Lluís Alemany Pujol (1880–1960): Posthumously named Favorite Son for his contributions to Mallorca’s political and social development, including serving as mayor of Palma and president of the Balearic Provincial Council.
