Mallorca Council Allocates €2.1 Million to Promote Local Products, a 50% Increase from Last Year

The President of the Mallorca Council, Llorenç Galmés, and the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, presented the 2025 grant calls at a press conference. Also present was Álvaro Roca, Director of Economic Promotion, Product of Mallorca, and Commerce.

President Galmés emphasised “the increase in the budget allocated to the promotion of Mallorcan products through the three aid calls”. They noted that these grants will “enhance our excellent local products. We also aim to support the work of the island’s productive sectors in delivering high-quality food and goods to consumers.”

Councillor Pilar Amate added that “the increase in funding for promoting local products will allow more beneficiaries,” and highlighted that “our department has prioritised streamlining procedures so that payments can be made as quickly as possible.”

Increased Budget for All Three Calls

The goal of these three grant programs is to support projects that promote Mallorcan products, including events, fairs, lectures, tastings, meetings, conferences, product exhibitions, and similar activities.

Specifically, the grants for municipalities and minor local entities amount to €1,020,000—an increase of 46% over the €700,000 allocated in 2024. The maximum grant per project is €20,000, and the justification period has been extended from 20 to 30 business days.

Grants for associations, cooperatives, and other non-profit organisations increased from €400,000 in 2024 to €650,000 in 2025, a 62% increase. The maximum amount per beneficiary is €30,000, and advances of up to 50% of the awarded amount are still allowed.

Finally, a third funding line for for-profit entities and businesses has increased from €300,000 in 2024 to €450,000 in 2025—up 50%. A key change this year is the reform of selection criteria to ensure equal access for both producers and retailers. Producers aiming to showcase and market Mallorcan products outside the island are eligible, with a grant cap of €30,000 per beneficiary.

The budget has been increased this year due to the success of the 2024 calls, which were fully allocated. Last year, a total of 63 beneficiaries were awarded: 23 municipalities, 17 for-profit organisations, and 23 non-profit entities. This year, the increased funding is expected to reach even more beneficiaries.

Applications can be submitted electronically via the Consell de Mallorca’s official website, the day after the call is published in the BOIB (Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands).
