Pius XII School in Palma Wins First Prize in the “It’s in My Blood” Video Contest, Organised by IBJOVE and the Blood and Tissue Bank Foundation

IES Son Pacs in Palma and the Ibiza School of Art take second prize, while La Salle in Inca wins third

The contest, aimed at raising awareness among young people about the importance of blood donation, featured 26 videos created by 76 students and their teachers.

The video “Blood is Life”, created by Pius XII students Olga Puigferrat, Jinane Takahrifa, and Graciela Zurita, won first prize in the “It’s in My Blood” video contest, organized by the Blood and Tissue Bank Foundation and the Balearic Youth Institute (IBJOVE) through the Carnet Jove youth program. The first prize carries a monetary award of €1,000.

Pius XII School in Palma Wins First Prize in the “It’s in My Blood” Video Contest, Organised by IBJOVE and the Blood and Tissue Bank Foundation

Two second prizes of €500 each were awarded to “Jo donaré sang” by 1st-year ESO students from IES Son Pacs in Palma and “Sangre” from the Ibiza School of Art.
Third prizes, worth €250 each, went to “Un fil de vida” and “Fa mal, però…”, both submitted by students from La Salle Inca.

This year’s edition included a total of 26 videos submitted by five educational centres, with contributions from 76 young people and their teachers.

The jury was composed of:

Raising Blood Donation Awareness Among Youth

The contest was part of a broader awareness campaign promoted by the Departments of Families and Social Affairs and Health, aimed at conveying the importance of blood donation in public health to young people. In 2023, only 16% of blood donors in the Balearic Islands were between the ages of 18 and 30. The campaign sought to promote values such as altruism and solidarity, and encourage young people to recognise the role of blood donation in maintaining a functional health system.

The winning and finalist videos will become part of a video bank designed to raise awareness about blood donation:
