The project, expected to be completed in approximately two weeks, has a dedicated budget of €93,476.69 included within the port facilities maintenance contract.

Work began last week to install a fixed mooring line in the port of Cala Figuera, an initiative promoted by Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) with the aim of increasing the safety of vessels moored in the area. Until now, each vessel had its own mooring system, but with this new intervention, a unified and reinforced system is being implemented to allow for better space management and greater resistance to phenomena such as rissagues (meteotsunamis).

The new system features a dual-guide design, specifically engineered to better withstand the impact of the extreme sea level oscillations that occasionally occur in the port. The tasks involve placing the concrete anchors that form the foundation of the mooring line and installing the main chain that links them together. Currently, technical teams are securing the mooring branches that will enable the safe docking of vessels.

This intervention is part of the maintenance contract for ports directly managed by PortsIB, which includes a dedicated budget line for this project in Cala Figuera. The total investment amounts to €93,476.69, covering both the technical planning and the execution of the work by the contracted companies.

The project is expected to be completed within approximately two weeks, weather permitting. With this initiative, PortsIB reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the safety, functionality, and sustainability of port facilities throughout the Balearic coastline.
