The event introduced primary school students to computational thinking through play and hands-on activities

The Antoni Albert i Nieto Square in Eivissa hosted the first “School 4.0 in the Street” Day yesterday, organised by the Digitalisation Department of the Ministry of Education and Universities, with the collaboration of the Eivissa City Council. The event aimed to implement innovative methodologies that put students at the centre of the learning process while fostering digital skills in a meaningful and experiential way.

More than 400 third-grade students from primary schools across the municipality of Eivissa took part in the event. Organised into different time slots throughout the morning, students enjoyed a playful and meaningful experience focused on developing computational thinking through games. At the same time, participating teachers were introduced to a range of transferable classroom proposals.

Over 400 Students Participate in the First “School 4.0 in the Street” Day in Eivissa

Students explored several themed areas, including board games, DIY activities, movement-based games, educational robotics, an art workshop, and dome construction (with support from the CEP Eivissa). The activities were facilitated by sixth-grade students from CEIP Sa Joveria, who acted as guides and mentors for the younger participants in the board game area. Dedicated spaces were also provided for teachers to observe, participate, and gather ideas applicable to their educational contexts.

The first “School 4.0 in the Street” Day was made possible thanks to the dedication of the mentor teachers who coordinated the event. These teachers came from CEIP Balansat, CEIP Sa Bodega, CEIP Puig d’en Valls, CEIP L’Urgell, CEIP Torres de Balafia, and CEIP S’Olivera. Their commitment was key to bringing to life this pioneering initiative that blends technology, education, and public space.
