The final beneficiaries of the food cards are families with dependent children. To ensure no other individuals are left without support, Fiscaletti explained that food security projects funded through a separate call, with a total of €1.6 million from the 0.7% income tax (IRPF) allocation and corporate tax, can be justified until December 31. This call covers projects to be carried out in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Since December 2023, the Ministry of Families and Social Affairs has allocated around €7 million to grant calls for food assistance initiatives.
In addition to the €3.1 million for food cards and €1.6 million for food security programs, in 2024 aid was granted for organizations engaged in food distribution, delivery, and soup kitchens, amounting to €2,295,000 — €1,159,000 from the 0.7% tax allocation and €1,136,000 from the regional government’s own funds.
