The works, with an investment of nearly €67,000, improve safety, hygiene, and accessibility at both facilities

The Department of Environment, Biosphere Reserve and Cooperation announced on Friday, June 6, the completion of asphalting works at the perimeter area of the Ciutadella Fire Station and the parking area of the Ciutadella Animal Shelter. The total investment amounted to €66,963.83 (VAT included).

Asphalting Works Completed at the Ciutadella Fire Station and Animal Shelter

At the Fire Station, the entire perimeter area has been paved to ensure full operational use for vehicle circulation and training exercises, as well as to eliminate rodent infestations and the associated public health risks. The asphalting covered an area of 991 square meters, surrounding the Ciutadella Fire Station with fully paved access. This part of the project had a total cost of €48,197.71.

In addition, 345 square meters of asphalting were completed at the parking and access area of the Ciutadella Animal Shelter, to address persistent flooding during rain and the large amounts of dust that were being generated. A metal canopy anchored with concrete was also installed on the west façade of the building to protect animals and caregivers from adverse weather conditions in the outdoor areas. This work had a total cost of €18,766.12.
